Part of our mission is to show "kindness through action" and for Kemba - that translates into looking for opportunities to give back. We truly believe that there's more to jewelry than meets the eye and that whether given as a gift or shared as a memory-keeper - jewelry really can speak louder than words. We also think that there's a lot of good we can do out there and jewelry is just another way to do so.
The Kemba Cares program has been started to help showcase and support deserving charities who would like to have their story, their brand, and their cause represented by a Kemba jewelry design. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these items go directly back to the charity it represents. Each of the designs created for this collection will be done so in partnership with the charity it represents. It is important to us to incorporate something meaningful from their work into their respective jewelry designs. Creating that meaningful connection is what Kemba is all about, after all!
We want to help support all the great work that the small but might charities are doing out there and we think that the Kemba Cares program is the perfect way to do so. Watch for announcements of new charities that will be featured!
Each Angel can hold a special meaning to the giver - or to the receiver. They are often shared as a gift of "thanks" for the love and support that people so willingly offer when we are in a time of need. They can also be meant to inspire strength and courage for someone that is going through a difficult time.
We are encouraging everyone who receives an Angel to join our "Circle of Angels" on Facebook and Instagram.
These designs are now in the hands of the owners they were intended for but we wanted to share these for you to see the many possibilities of creation that can come from Kemba Designs. We hope you enjoy looking back on these past designs and let us know if there is anything that grabs your attention and inspires you for your one-of-a-kind Kemba Designs jewelry piece.
We are pleased to present Virginia Ivy Beadwork, a guest designer/maker who creates jewelry with seed bead weaving techniques. Her name is Teresa Bolinski and we are pleased to show off her newest creations!
"Our creative expression is influenced by the places we immerse ourselves in, the people we interact with and the experiences that shape and grow our spirits. At a very young age I remember meeting my Great-Grandmother Ivy and was amazed by her gift for creating knitted goods and embossed copper pictures without the ability to see. She was blind but did not let her lack of eyesight prevent her from making art. I learned from her that creativity is a magic in us all and has no limitations or boundaries.
My Grandmother Virginia helped shaped my creative heart even though she passed long before I was born. Our shared passion for photography and drawing has the power to connect us through time and space.
Exploring my creative side is a daily practice. I work professionally as a photographer and continue to fill my soul by learning about new art and craft mediums. Working with tiny seed beads to create detailed jewelry is my most recent exploration. I enjoy designing patterns and colour palettes, and working through the patience requiring process of weaving each individual bead into a larger unified design. Working with my hands to create is a meditative practice that relieves anxiety and enhances feeling of inner peace. I hope that those who wear the jewelry I make can feels the positivity attached to each piece."
